After thinking about it, I've decided to continue my work with FreeCodeCamp for now. I spent a good deal of time learning R, but for whatever reason, Python just appeals to me more than R does. Admittedly, R does have a steep learning curve, whereas Python is more straightforward. Either way, I don't have much of a portfolio, and FreeCodeCamp covers a good deal of design elements as well as coding, all while leading to a tangible portfolio.
In February of 2018, I was denied admission to a Ph.D. program in Linguistics. As I was navigating the application process, I simultaneously revisited a dormant interest in computer science. In March I enrolled in a certified Computer Science class via HarvardX, which I completed four months later. I am at the beginning of a new phase in my life-long learning process and look forward to that which the future will inevitably deliver.
